Settlement time for a refund depends almost entirely on the individual merchant and their issuing bank.

Because of this, refunds may take up to 14 days to post back to your account. As soon as we receive funds from a merchant, they are deposited into your account.

The above timeline also applies to debit card holds placed by retailers (for example, a security deposit placed by a hotel or rental car agency). These are sometimes referred to as authorization (or preauthorization) holds.

Merchants whose business is hospitality, vehicle or equipment rental, or related services may be allowed as many as 31 calendar days for an authorization hold to remain.
